In the joint IDF – ISA operation last night, IAF aircraft targeted the terror operative Hisham Saidani, born in 1965 and resident of Bureij, in the Gaza Strip.
Saidani was one of the founders of the Hashura Council of the Mujahideen terrorist organization, which operates under the umbrella of Global Jihad. the Hashura Council was involved in significant terror activity against Israeli civilians and IDF soldiers and has been a promoter of radical Salafi ideas and Jihad.
Hashura Council of the Mujahideen was responsible for a series of terror attacks, including the attack on January 27, 2009, in which a powerful explosive device was detonated against an IDF patrol, killing an IDF NCO and severely injuring an IDF officer.
Over the years, Saidani was responsible for terrorist activity in the Gaza Strip including firing of rockets and the placement of explosive devices.
Saidani was interrogated and imprisoned by Hamas for his affiliation with Global Jihad, and was released on August 2012, despite Hamas’ awareness of his involvement in terrorist activity.
Since his release and in recent days, Saidani had been planning a complex attack to be carried out along the Sinai border, a collaboration between Gaza-based militants and Salafi operatives in Sinai
