So it doesn’t really matter anymore whether the IOC, a corrupt and morally reprehensible body, chooses to acknowledge the Olympic atrocity. While it would have been a moral victory, and that is important, it wouldn’t have the sentimental value it might have had the IOC supported it in the first place. What really matters now (for this author at least) is that Israel’s friends and supporters, in high and low places all over the world, came out of the woodwork to not only pay their respects to 11 amazing individuals who lost their lives in 1972, but to further expose the shallowness and inexcusable culture of the IOC.
