Iran Sets Preconditions for US Meeting: Ready, Obama? Here they are: Remove all US forces from Middle East, Abandon Israel to the Wolves

Barack Obama may intend to meet with Iran without preconditions (yes, he did say it, no matter how he tries to deny it now), but Iran isn't granting Obama the same courtesy:

Iran's Vice President Sets Two Preconditions for Talks with US.

They're very simple conditions, really. Just remove all US forces from the Middle East, and abandon Israel to the wolves.

TEHRAN (FNA)- Vice President for Media Affairs Mehdi Kalhor said on Saturday that Iran has set two preconditions for holding talks with the United States of America.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency, he said as long as U.S. forces have not left the Middle East region and continues its support for the Zionist regime, talks between Iran and U.S. is off the agenda.

It is the Americans who are in dire need of reestablishing ties with Iran, he underlined.

Iran is not obliged to reestablish ties with the U.S., he said. "If they take our advice, grounds for such talks would be well prepared," he said.

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Nice of him to voice the presumptions that have made the idea of high level dialogue nothing more than a false comfort for fools.

Obama is a fricking idiot.  And this just proves what an idiot he is.

he comes out and begs to begin diplomatic talks, and Iran throws it in his face.

Gee, way to go Obama!  This really bodes well for your future negotiations with terrorist states, eh?

Head:

You know, if there was a counter vailing force, Congress, which could prevent that, give moderation to his radicalism, I really wouldn't be worried.

But there won't be.  And THAT is the real issue.

Oh, John? John McCain? Are you in there?  Testing....testing....

Please share with me in what way has President Bush destroyed our Military. Please don't take my question as making you think i am a rep. because i am not a rep. or a dem. I would just like to try and understand your opinion.   If you want to call me something other than Kenny please give me the respect of calling me Lieutenant Commander ( LCDR ). Well, I'd suggest you research how many replacements for destroyed or sold or given to Iraq Abrahms tanks, Bradley personell carriers or humvees our military has ordered.  I did............NONE.  We're building those stupid rubber tired supposedly super armored slow as hell trucks, but no real hardware.  We've stripped all the National Guard units that have been deployed and sent them home with none of the vehicles they were deployed with.

We've sent our magnificently trained troops into a quagmire which they had essentially no training for, and weren't equipped for and let them be training dummies for the Iraqi insurgency.

We've sent some of our best infantry units into Afghanistan and then pretty much forgotten why we sent them in the first place, and have made them suffer a strategy akin to the French strategy in Vietnam........ie, sit in fortified bases and watch the enemy go wherever they want in the rest of the country.

I suppose we really can't expect a lot more from an administration composed of draft dodgers who have no understanding of what combat is, but it looks to me like Mr Bush is purposely downgrading our military.  I'd wonder why that is.

We don't know what Obama would do if he won, as many mideast countries and terrorist groups like Hamas seem to favor, but it would probably be safer not to find out.

I believe the preconditions were required by McCain.  So McCain drew the line in the sand and Iran took his lead.  Guess McCain told them.  Well if he gets his way McCain will invade tomorrow he will kick their ass if it takes 100 years.  No No wait thats Iraq maybe 200 years for Iran. Iraq and Iran fought for seven years this century maybe we can form on the border between the two countries and fight them both from  there.  We know they can sustain seven years of fighting.

John McCains mouth has overloaded his common sense again.  Of course thats easy.  Well let the voters run with this one.  John McCain is so trained in foreign diplomacy of course his skills are from the position of being a prisoner of war.  Well shucks thats easy Joe six pack buy McCain a ticket.

Interesting question.  If we'd responded in a sensible way to the Trade Center attacks, we wouldn't need a military strategy for dealing with either country.  The fact that you ask the question in such a way shows a tunnel vision way of thinking about things.
